If you need assistance with weight loss or weight management give Pink Grapefruit a try! The bright, crisp aroma of this essential oil energizes and uplifts your spirit. I can’t help but think of that Beatle’s song, “Ruby in the Sky with Diamonds,” whenever I take a whiff of it because it sparkles just like diamonds and leaves me feeling all warm and happy inside. Pink Grapefruit is known as a “dieter’s friend” and is recommended for treating eating disorders and overweight or obesity issues. I’ve noticed that it’s especially helpful for controlling sweet cravings. TIP FOR HOW TO USE: Dispense 1-3 drops of Pink Grapefruit onto a tissue or cotton ball. Please use certified organic Cold Pressed oil from the rind of the fruit. Remember pesticides adhere to the surface of fruits and veggies and are not easily washed off. Slowly inhale the Pink Grapefruit aroma. You can easily adjust the intensity of the aroma by increasing or decreasing the distance between your tissue/cotton ball and your nose. Breathe in the aromatic scent of Pink Grape whenever you get an urge to eat and prefer not to, or just before eating a meal to curb your appetite. Blending with wild crafted Patchouli or Fennel essential oil may enhance Pink Grapefruit’s effect as a natural appetite suppressant. Use these same instructions to control sweet cravings. Pink Grapefruit is also recommended for enhancing one’s self esteem and definitely gives you an added sense of “I can do it” power! Don’t be surprised if you feel like a kid again after inhaling it. Envision what joys children have jumping up and down on their beds and you get the general picture. I’ve used it successfully with overweight clients who say it not only helps to diminish their appetite, but also helps improve their digestion and metabolism. Add a drop of Pink Grapefruit essential oil to your favorite shampoo for a lustrous shine to your hair. Pink Grapefruit can also help eliminate oily scalp, skin and hair conditions. Pink Grapefruit make an excellent room freshener and deodorizer, as well as a disinfectant. Use it in a aromatic mist! What in the Name of Jesus

By Michael Tummillo So, what in the Name of Jesus are we doing now? Jesus said, “For where two or three come together IN MY NAME, there am I with them” (Matt 18:20). Great, now what? In Mark 16:17, He assured us that, “…these signs will accompany those who believe: IN MY NAME they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” How’s that coming along? Along that same line of thought, He said, (John 14:12-14) “…anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask IN MY NAME, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask Me for anything IN MY NAME, and I will do it.” Can I get a witness…anybody? In John 14:26, He assures us, “…the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send IN MY NAME, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” He’s here, empowering us. Are we appropriating that power? In John 15:16, He said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruitfruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask IN MY NAME.” Are we asking for Kingdom things, or are we asking amiss (James 4:3)? And in John 16:24, “Until now you have not asked for anything IN MY NAME. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” Again, what’s the motivation of our hearts when we ask? YOU JUST SAID THE SECRET WOYD! Some mistakenly believe that by saying “In Jesus Name” at the end of a prayer results in God always granting what is asked for, as if He were a genie at our beck and call. This is nothing short of treating the words “in Jesus Name” as if they were a magic formula. Why not exclaim “Abracadabra!” and wait for the results? Bible scholars point out that the expression “in the name of” originally meant “in the spirit of” or “in the manner of.” In other words, simply saying “in Jesus’ Name,” does not mean that a particular prayer really IS in Jesus’ Name. Perhaps that alone explains some of our perceived prayer failures. Praying in His Name means that we are saying the kinds of things that He would say or that which we know He taught. A working knowledge of Scripture will certainly prove beneficial in this regard. Praying in Jesus Name means praying with His authority and asking the Father to act upon our prayers because we come in the name of His Son, Jesus. Praying in Jesus’ Name means the same thing as praying according to the will of God, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything ACCORDING TO HIS WILL, He hears us. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him” (1 John 5:14-15). Praying in Jesus Name is praying for things that will honor and glorify King Jesus and advance His Kingdom cause. Not OUR kingdom…HIS! If what you asked for in prayer was not for Gods glory and according to His will, saying “In Jesus Name” is meaningless. Genuinely praying in Jesus’ Name and for His glory is what is important, not attaching certain words to the end of a prayer. It is not the words we pray that matter, but the purpose behind our prayer. Praying for things that are in agreement with Gods will is the essence of praying in Jesus Name. Amen? Amen! ROGER, OVER ‘N OUT? Speaking of ‘amen’, when we say THAT word at the VERY end of a prayer, it does NOT mean, “Roger, over ‘n out!” The Hebrew ‘Amen’ is derived from the root “aman,” which means to be firm or solid in the sense of permanency. Thus by implication, it means to be sure, true or faithful. So whenever we see the word ‘Amen’ used in Scripture, it is affirming truth, or illustrating something is said that is of absolute certainty. One might proclaim, “Let it be done!” We use it to affirm that we believe all the things we have read, or heard, are true, or that we are confident God hears our petitions. It is like an solemn appeal that we know something with absolute certainty, even that our prayers have truly been heard by God. 1st Peter 3:12, “For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers…” Oddly enough, to get a scriptural answer to what ‘Amen’ means, we go to a place where it is used not as the last word but the first word. Jesus would often start a solemn statement by saying “Verily” or “Truly”. In John 3:3, Jesus is recorded as using the word twice in succession, “Verily, verily, I say to you…”. In the original language, this is actually the word “Amen” being used there twice. When we compare an instance of this in Mark, with the same statement in Luke, we find the translators have left the word untranslated, but in Luke it was translated by using the word we translate as “Truly”. (Mark 9:1, Luke 9:27). This shows us that the underlying meaning of the word “Amen” is truth and verily. It is a solemn affirmation. So, when we say, “Amen” we are saying, “Yes, before God, I agree with that, I believe that to be true, I want that to be so, Let it be done”. WHAT’S IN A NAME? So, what ARE we doing in the Name of Jesus? Are we exercising the Authority that His Name gives us? After all, His is the Name above all names (Phil 2:9). His Name is exalted over names like cancer, divorce, war, violence, dissension, strife, depression, addiction, et al. Are we declaring peace in His Name? Are we commanding healing to spring forth in His Name? Are we speaking to the Spirit of Divorce that has raised its ugly head in our nation’s marriages? Are we advancing the Kingdom in His Name, doing warfare as a mighty army, or merely warming pews? The word “Christian” literally means “a little Christ.” Acts 11:26 tells us that, “…a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.” Whether the term was a derogatory one that was embraced by the followers of Christ’s teachings - not unlike the British referring to the Colonial Revolutionary Army as “Yanks” - is up for debate. Point is, the name stuck and remains 2,000 years later. As “Little Christs,” do we dare to step out of our comfort zones and do the things that Jesus said we would do in His Name? God dares us to do so. The devil dares us, too. Sadly, most Christians are only Christians because we weren’t born in Iraq. If we had been, we’d be worshipers of Allah. Being a Christian requires devotion to the cause, not merely cheerleading for an ideology. Wearing a “Jesus Saves” t-shirt, placing a silver fish on our bumper and attending Christian conferences does NOT a Christian make. As a young college girl asked me one time, “What do you and Jesus DO together?” Great question. After all, we are referred to God’s fellow workers. Co-laborers, if you will. He chooses to work with us and THROUGH us. I’m reminded of the words of Keith Green in his song, “Asleep in the Light.” He was 29 when he died in 1982. He was not only a forerunner in the Christian music scene, he also had a clear sense of Jesus’ radical call and didn’t shy away from his hard truths. These lyrics are more relevant now than ever. Read ‘em and weep…then wipe your eyes, blow your nose and let’s storm the gates of Hell. Cause He brings people to your door, And you turn them away, as you smile and say, God bless you, be at peace, and all Heaven just weeps, Cause Jesus came to your door, you’ve left Him out on the streets. Open up, open up, and give yourself away, You’ve seen the need, you hear the cry, so how can you delay, God’s calling and you’re the one, but like Jonah you run, He’s told you to speak, but you keep holding it in, Oh, can’t you see it’s such sin? The world is sleeping in the dark, That the church can’t fight, cause it’s asleep in the light, How can you be so dead, when you’ve been so well fed, Jesus rose from the grave, and you, you can’t even get out of bed, Oh, Jesus rose from the dead, come on, get out of your bed. Rethink Your Career Transition

By Richard Hanes Are you going nowhere in your career? If youve decided its time to change your career completely, heres a new way of changing! Before you jump ship, think about whats been happening in your career. Have you been making little or no progress for some time? You may be in the throes of what George Leonard, author of Mastery, calls the plateau. Leonard argues that we master something with a series of one intense upward growth spurt followed by a long period of nearly flat growth a plateau. In this age of what have you done for me lately, you may have just tired of being on the plateau. Before you chuck your old career, decide whether it no longer works for you or whether youve just tired of being on the plateau. If youve decided to change careers completely, read on! So youve decided to jump, eh? Well, youve got two choices of how to do it. First is the traditional think, plan, do linear sequence weve all been taught by career counselors and well-meaning family members. If youre just changing jobs within a career field, this strategy should work fine for you. But it sucks for career changers and heres why! We get much of our identity from what we do; just ask anyone about himself or herself. What does she or he tell you first? Im a ___________ (fill in the blank here doctor, lawyer, Indian chief.) We get that identity by what weve done in our careers. In my experience hiring hundreds of folks for law firms, interviewers are skeptical of career changers. Hiring is a costly and time-consuming process, and interviewers dont want to do it any more than necessary nor take unnecessary risks. Youve got to convince them that hiring you makes sense, and to tell a convincing story requires that youve convinced yourself the change makes sense. Its hard to convince yourself you can do if you havent done it. So how do you present a prospective employer with a risk worth taking? Use the second option for career changing an iterative process. Ok, you say, Ill bite. Whats an iterative process? Merriam Websters dictionary describes it as a repetitive process that yields results successively closer to the desired result, which is clarified as a result of the process. So take heart, all those who want something different but dont know exactly what it is the iterative process comes to your rescue. So what does an iterative career shifting process look like? Herminia Ibarra describes a three-step strategy in her book, Working Identity, Unconventional Strategies for Reinventing Your Career. First, create experiments. Stephen Covey once said we cant talk our way out of a situation we behaved our way into. Since our identities are defined by what we do, we need to pick some possible, alternative career identities and find activities that allow us to try these identities on for size. If they fit well, we can delve more deeply into them. If they fit poorly, we can put them back on the rack and try another. Second, shift connections. Your working identity is also defined by your web of relationships in work and family life. Your current co-workers, bosses, family members, suppliers and customers all have vested interests in having you remain unchanged. Talk with any of them about a new career, and theyll steer you toward a slightly modified version of what youre doing now not a career shift. So, youll need to meet new people in your experimental fields. Go on informational interviews. Write to authors in your new field and engage them in conversation. Investigate trade or professional associations in your new field, or talk with college professors who teach that subject. Use your imagination to find new people for your network. Since who you are is defined by the company you keep, you need to meet new people to guide and help you shape your career experiments successfully. Third, revise your life story so its compelling and coherent. Revising your life story involves revising your resume and story youll tell during informational and job interviews. You need this revised story for two reasons. 1. To convince yourself during a time of turmoil and confusion that your career change makes sense; and 2. To convince a prospective employer that hiring you is worth the risk. A good story is like a good movie. Good movies cause you to suspend your disbelief. You care about the character, believe in him or her and relate to the struggle he or she is going through. You watch with bated breath as the protagonist struggles against obstacles that cause fundamental changes in character. You believe in the character as he or she reaches the point of no return and resolves his or her struggle, either successfully or unsuccessfully. You care and you believe in them. How do you suspend your interviewers disbelief? By making your story compelling and convincing. Demonstrate to your interviewer that your transformation is complete and sensible. Explain the internal reasons for your career change, for example, I changed to do something Im really good at or that I really enjoy. Show how youve learned from what youve tried and how you used that learning to deepen your understanding of yourself. Its best to avoid external reasons (i.e. I was fired or laid off) to avoid the impression that you simply accept fate rather than actively shape it. Cite as many reasons for your change as you can, and point out any explanations that have deeply rooted causes. Family or financial circumstances may have prevented you from realizing a goal from long ago. Persevering and overcoming obstacles are attractive qualities to employers. Show continuity and causality a natural series of unfolding events that make sense. Connect your past work life to your present situation and project it out into the future. Tell your story so that the obstacles youve overcome and what youve learned about your character inspire your prospective employer to believe in your motives, character and ability to reach your goals. Tell it so they can see you doing the same things for them! No matter how you cut it, change is messy, and career change is no exception. Margaret Wheatley and Myron Kellner-Rogers, in A Simpler Way, share that life uses messes to get to well-ordered solutions. But messes dont feel very good while youre in the midst of them! Thats where professional help comes in. A broad shoulder to lean on when you need it. A productive mind to help you brainstorm experiments and shift connections. A capable life story editor to help make your story compelling and convincing. If you know you need a change, but dont feel comfortable going it alone, contact a career coach! Nontraditional Students Welcomed at Colleges and Universities

By Aldene Fredenburg Major shifts in the job market and increasing costs at public and private universities have combined to create a new phenomenon: Increasing numbers of adult students are deciding to attend college, either to improve their job skills or prepare for a career change; and the colleges are welcoming them with open arms. The days of joining a company’s workforce after completion of high school or college and staying until retirement are gone, probably for good. Outsourcing, downsizing, and changes in business structure create a work environment that is much more unpredictable, and unstable, than ever. Workers with a variety of up-to-date job skills, who can adapt and grow with change, are much more likely to survive than workers who can’t or won’t adapt. New Programs for Continuing Education Students Colleges, universities, and trade schools, impacted by rising costs and looking at capital reserves depleted by stock market downturns, are welcoming these workers, creating or expanding continuing education programs and even creating online courses. Computer courses range from instruction in the latest office and management software to basic and advanced website design courses; computer graphic design programs offer students even more skills needed in the new computer-dominated work environment. Other popular course offerings include business and management classes, psychology courses (sometimes including work psychology), and personnel management classes. Many continuing education programs offer associates’, bachelors’, and even masters’ degrees; some provide career counseling ordinarily offered only to full-time students. In addition, benefits offered to traditional students are often extended to continuing ed students as well; this may include student discounts, free or reduced entrance to events at the college, and even use of the college pool and / or gym - a great perk for workers otherwise unable to afford a gym membership. Some continuing education students even find themselves involved in extracurricular activities, such as the college radio or TV station. Company Involvement Many companies encourage their workers to involve themselves in further education, and some will pay for the courses or reimburse for them after completion; some companies, but not all, insist that courses be work-related. One prominent insurance company not only reimburses for courses, but pays the student a $200 bonus upon completion. Many industries have training programs of their own which they offer to employees; the banking industry, for instance, is affiliated with the American Bankers Association, an organization which offers industry-related courses to the employees of its member banks; these courses are generally free to the employees. This benefit results in unique opportunities for advancement and makes banking a very attractive career path, particularly for women without the means to attend business school. Even when companies provide free training to workers, many supplement their industry-specific education with college courses; some will even pay for a degree program. Considering the need for higher education among workers, and the uncertainty in the workplace, this education reimbursement arrangement may be the most valuable benefit a worker can receive. Two Marketing Trends that will Affect Your Business

By Kevin J. Price The economy and market place are changing rapidly. The growth of the Internet are making consumers more demanding than ever. As a result, marketers have begun to identify a class of people that is quickly being defined as the “Accumulator Class.” This group is one of two major trends in marketing that this article will focus on and it has has the following unique characteristics: * Typically, they are in their mid 30s to early 50s. * They are one of the top income generating groups. They are affluent or are optimistic in their ability to be affluent and want to leverage their time towards that objective. * They are at the point in their careers where earning income for their families and future are among their greatest goals. * They have come to realize that the leveraging of their time is the most important thing they can do to increase their wealth. Therefore, unlike earlier generations that would be inclined to do it themselves, this group realizes it makes more sense to pay someone else to do it (whatever “it” is). They tend to center their lives around convenience and are very demanding. * This group takes control over as much of their time as possible. No longer do they read stale weeklies with yesterday’s news or agree to meet Brian Williams or even Katie Couric at a specific time for information. Many go to the web and tie a few video or audio programs into their own, customized, news broadcast (or podcast). In fact, the average viewer of nightly news is 60 years old. This group is still comfortable with being where its told to be to get the information they want, but they are of little interest to most marketers. * If you are interested in reaching this group of Accumulators, you are going to have to design your marketing towards meeting the specific demands of these drivers. A second major trend after recognizing the accumulators is the rise of educational marketing. In many respects, this is the corollary to the first point. People have grown impatient with advertising and will usually only trade their time for information. Currently, radio stations are trying to persuade listeners to stay with so-called free radio rather than paying for it. Currently, approximately 10 million Americans, most in the demanding Accumulator Class, have made the shift to XM or Sirius. They are willing to pay not to hear advertising. So how are advertisers reaching a reluctant audience? The following are a few examples: * They are sponsoring shows and putting their name on it, like the old days. * They are requiring the audience to look at advertising before they can get their information. Apparently, busy consumers are willing to make a trade off, since recent data has shown that the fastest growing way for getting news is through on-demand resources. * Increasingly, businesses are buying air time in order to convey information, rather than merely doing an infomercial. Many of the radio and TV shows you now see are far more sophisticated than their infomercial ancestors. They know that people will not watch a 30 minute commercial any more than a 30 second one. * These same sources take a multi-informational approach. They provide free newsletters, have programs on TV and/or radio, and virtually always have a website. * Virtually every business is developing innovative ways to use educational marketing and find it essential to their future success. In sum, highly sophisticated consumers are forcing advertisers to give them what they want, the way they want it, and when they want it. These individuals drive the new marketing environment. The only businesses that will thrive are those who develop a marketing plan that acknowledges such. Kevin J. He is an award winning author of several books and has given speeches both coast to cost and around the world. His area in business expertise is the growing accumulator class (as seen in this article) which he believes will drive the economy for decades to come. “Businessese that fail to recognize the importance of this group,” says Price, “will suffer terrible consequences.” Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Kevin_J._Price http://EzineArticles.com/?Two-Marketing-Trends-that-will-Affect-Your-Business&id=244416 ativan and calcium supplements suicide ambien overdose ambien eyesight counteract ambien

The Organized Job Search

By Janet Barclay Many people, under financial or other pressures to find work quickly, feel they cant afford to take the time to get organized. On the other hand, conducting your job search in an organized manner will reduce the amount of time you spend looking for information, following inappropriate leads, or waiting for your dream job to fall into your lap. It generally takes at least a month to find an entry-level job, and as much as nine months for one requiring a high level of skill and experience. Getting organized before you begin your job search can ultimately save you a lot of time and frustration. You should take several preliminary steps before you even begin your active job search. You should start by identifying your skills, interests, target market, and any child care, transportation, or other issues that you will need to keep in mind. A career or employment counselor can be very helpful in this area, as well as with the preparation of your resume, cover letters, and any other job search materials you will need. Once youre ready to face the job market, there are three areas where youll find it beneficial to be well organized: your schedule, your workspace, and your contacts. Your Schedule First, you must decide how much time you can realistically commit to your job search on a weekly basis, and then create a weekly schedule of activities. Keep in mind that looking for a full-time job is in itself a full-time job! Some of your time will be devoted to reading and applying for advertised positions, but be sure to allow plenty of time for other job search activities such as making telephone calls, generating and researching new leads, reviewing old leads for follow up, writing thank you notes or other correspondence, and visiting placement offices, employment agencies, or other service providers. The percentage of time you dedicate to each activity depends on what is most effective for your field of work or geographical area, so it may be worthwhile for you to ask others what has worked for them. Most people perform different activities more effectively at different times of day. Take your natural energy flow, as well as the availability of quiet time for conducting research and telephone calls, into consideration when planning your schedule. If quiet time is not available at home during the daytime or evening, an employment resource center can be an invaluable resource. Keep your personal preferences in mind when planning your activities. For example, if you dislike talking on the telephone, it may be less stressful for you to get your calls out of the way before beginning your other activities, or to intersperse your phone calls between other activities so you dont become overwhelmed. If youre planning to drop off unsolicited resumes, map out a route of targeted businesses that are in a particular area, and plan to cover the entire area in one day. This will cut down on your travel time and expenses as well as the number of times you need to dress up. Keeping a log of the actual time you spend on each activity will allow you to see whether you are on track and to identify any problem areas. Its not uncommon to become frustrated and depressed when youre out of work, so be sure to schedule regular time for self-care and other personal activities like going to the gym or the hairstylist. Your Workspace At a minimum, you need a chair and a desk or table with plenty of space for you to work with your information, make and receive telephone calls, and plan your job search. All necessary supplies should be stored close by, including paper, pens, index cards, paperclips, staples, and your telephone directory. During your job search, youll likely accumulate various versions of your resume and cover letter, job postings, company profiles, advertisements, and business cards, but they will be of no value to you if you cant find what you need. A binder or filing system, sorting the information into topics, will allow you to refer quickly to both the job posting and that specific application when you receive a telephone call from a prospective employer. It will also allow you to find easily any other information you may have gathered about the organization before your interview. You may find it beneficial to have an alternate job search office such as your local library or employment centre, where you can research, read, and write without the distractions you may encounter at home. Many are equipped with computers that you can use for Internet job search as well as resume and cover letter preparation, which can be a great benefit if you dont have a home computer or must share it with other family members. If you plan to use this type of service on a regular basis, youll need some type of portfolio or briefcase to hold your job search material, including your resume in printed form and on a diskette, your calendar, and a notebook for jotting down leads and ideas. Most facilities do not allow you to receive telephone calls, so be sure that potential employers can reach you by voice mail, pager or cell phone. Of course, youll need a calendar for marking down job interviews and other important meetings. Youll also need a system for keeping track of your job applications. This information may be needed to confirm your eligibility for unemployment insurance or social assistance, and will help you to follow up on your applications. Your Contacts During your job search, you will probably communicate with hundreds, if not thousands, of people, but in order to make effective use of the network you develop, youll need a way to keep track of all your contacts. The simplest method is a card file system, with a card for each contact. Each card should include the contacts name, title, organization, address, telephone number, fax, and email address, the source of the lead, and dates and details of any conversations, correspondence, or interviews. You may find it helpful to set up a recipe box with a set of dividers labeled with the days of the week and a set numbered 1-31 for the days of the month. You can file each card under the date you wish to contact that person. For example, you may speak with someone on the 10th who suggests that you call him or her in two weeks. After noting the information on the index card, file it in the section for the 25th where it will serve as a reminder for you to follow up. There are wonderful software programs available that can help you with organizing your job search contacts. WinWay Resume, for example, has a section for storing contact information that you can merge with your cover letter. ACT! allows you to schedule tasks and reminders as well as perform mail merges. If you dont wish to buy or learn a new software package, email address books in Outlook, Outlook Express or in free Web-based email packages are also an excellent way to keep track of your contacts. However, unless you have unrestricted access to a computer, or a portable system such as a Palm Pilot, you wont be always able to access the information. The key features of any organizational system are ease of recording and ease of retrieval. If using an electronic system will make your job search more complicated and time-consuming, dont use it. Job searching can be overwhelming, but when you organize your schedule, workspace, and contacts effectively, youll be able to stay on track and find your new job more quickly. The Benefits of Chinese Medicine

By James Penn Chinese medicine is a whole holistic system that can lead to a healthier, happier and more stress free way of living. It is a system that people have benefited from for over twenty-three centuries and is used to diagnose, treat and prevent a wide variety or illnesses and problems. The different aspects that make up Chinese medicine all basically rely on the same principle, Yin and Yang. This is basically opposites attract, such as night and day, cold and warm, inner and outer. The basis behind it is to restore harmony and peace to the mind and body; the Chinese believe that by doing so we can eliminate many diseases and illnesses. Qi is the life force that flows uninterrupted throughout the body, similar to blood throwing throughout the veins. It is when there is a disruption in this Qi that problems and illness occurs; restoring the flow of the Qi restores harmony and dissolves the symptoms of illness. The two main components of Chinese medicine are acupuncture and herbal remedies. Acupuncture Acupuncture focuses on the Qi that flows throughout the body; it flows through points known as meridian points. While it is flowing freely we are healthy and happy, but if the channels should become blocked then the Qi stagnates and this leads to symptoms of various illnesses depending on where the Qi is blocked. It works by the acupuncturist restoring the normal flow of the Qi by stimulating certain points on the body. Herbal medicine Chinese herbal medicine is usually dispensed after acupuncture treatment although it can be used as a standalone. There are over a thousand common herbs that are used in combinations for various problems and illnesses. There are two main types of herbal remedies that are commonly used, these are food herbs and are generally eaten as part of the diet and are mainly used for prevention of disease and illness and maintenance. Medicinal herbs are usually prescribed by a Doctor of Chinese medicine and are specially prepared for the patient based on the individuals needs. The formula is made up from the patients medical condition, the environment and the constitution of the person. Medicinal herbs are usually given alongside acupuncture treatment and used in conjunction with the re-balancing effects of acupuncture treatment. The benefits of Chinese medicine are numerous and is has been thought to have helped many physical conditions along with affective disorders and increases mental clarity, here are just a few of the conditions it has been known to successfully treat. The Importance of Being Seated

By Jennifer Cram The trend to more casual outdoor ceremonies for weddings, baby namings, commitment and other ceremonies has seen an increase in ceremonies where all or most of the guests are standing. While you may not want to go to the expense of full-blown wedding decorator red carpet aisle and decorated chairs, the traditional theatre-type seating arrangement has many benefits: Guests settle before the ceremony startsDuring the signing they are less likely to wander off, gather into conversational groups, or light a cigaretteEveryone will not only see better, theyll also hear better. Bodies absorb sound, so if the main participants are standing, the sound will better reach those at the back.On hot days seated guests are less likely to pass out or suffer heat stress than those who are standing, and it is also easier to make sure everyone has access to water by putting a bottle of water (nicely decorated if you like) on each chairStanding guests may mean you have to have a ceremony shorter than you would likeThe aged and frail will be able to attend your wedding, and everyone will be more comfortableAnd, of course, it is easier to make an entrance down a defined aisle. If budget is an issue you can ask people to bring their own folding chair, or you could hire the ubiquitous plastic green or white garden chairs for little more than a dollar a chair, an amount that would be easy to pare off your reception budget. People will forget the favours you give them but they wont forget that they were tired, their feet ached, or they couldnt see or hear the ceremony. Having chairs makes it easier to reserve places up the front for close family members, including a place right next to the brides mother for the brides father after he has walked the bride down the aisle. Ive seen too many outdoor weddings where the brides parents ended up being separated by the crowd when being together to share the moment their cherished daughter takes her vows is an important event in their lives as a couple, and should be celebrated together. Many naming ceremonies are held to coincide with a childs first birthday, and a one-year-old can get pretty heavy. Having two chairs up front, facing the guests, gives the parents the option of sitting down with the child on its mothers or fathers lap, or of standing with the child seated or standing on a chair for part of the ceremony. Being seated can help a nervous bride and groom to relax too, and, particularly where there is a major discrepancy in height, makes it easier to get well-composed photographs. A Basic Model Aircraft Workshop

By Sandra Robinson These days many beginners enter the hobby with a ARTF(almost ready to fly) model, they are often reluctant to build there first model airplane, thinking the building will be difficult, the tools complex and they will need a large area to set up a workshop and will need to invest a large sum of money. Nothing could be further from the truth, there are advanced modelers who have devoted entire rooms or have erected workshops in which to enjoy there hobby, but the basic model airplane can easily be built in a corner of any home, I personally have built many models myself on a board on the kitchen table. When I built my first model all those years ago I did not have a clue,It was built on a old dining room table without a building board and the parts where held in place while the glue (balsa cement in those days) dried by window glazing tacks knocked in with a small hammer, luckily as I said the table was old and I lived to tell the tale, However I hope this article will guide a beginner through the setting up of a simple but adequately equipped model workshop, sufficient for the construction of most model kits and many scratch built models as well,Where possible I will show how some common household items and a few basic tools available in the larger DIY store can substitute for more expensive modeling tools Where specialized tools are available or desirable, hopefully this article will help in choosing which of several tools will give the biggest value The Workspace The minimum space needed to build the average R/C trainer is a area of about 5 feet by 5 feet,While it might be useful to have a larger area, this space will be adequate to construct most free flight, control line and radio controlled model airplanes, a place near a electrical socket and well lighted being the main points to consider, also it needs to be somewhere where it would not be a problem if wood scraps, sanding dust or glue ended up on the floor and can easily be cleaned up, A large carpet remnant or a old rug under the worktable would prove helpful here. The Building Board A good flat building board is the most important and basic tool, fortunately, it is also one of the least expensive. Although there are factory made building boards available, thousands of models have been built on a standard drawing board . A good store bought alternative is a cheap cork faced notice board from a local store. To keep the building board straight and free of warps, bows or twists, the building board should be laminated to a sheet of 3/4″ Medium Density Fiberboard (“MDF”) Ply or Melamine faced chipboard could also be used. Such a laminated building board can be easily picked up and moved out of sight if the workspace needs to be cleared for other activities. This is what I use personally glued together with PVA wood glue and screwed around the frame, the frame can be removed from the notice board if you wish, should it get in the way. A worktable will also be needed to set the building board upon. Many modelers have discovered that a card table set up in a corner is a perfectly adequate workbench for building smaller models. Others have used a kitchen or dining room table, but this can be a source of annoyance for other family members. Ideally, there will be a corner of a room where a workbench can be set up on a semi-permanent basis, and if there is room, a hollow core door resting on strips of wood screwed to the wall makes a very nice, sturdy and stable modeling workbench. If a built in workbench is not possible, but space is available, setting a door on top of a couple of trestles works well If a hollow core door is used as a bench top, be aware that the quality of these doors varies. The cheapest of the hollow core doors have a cardboard honeycomb core, which does not adequately support the outer veneer layers. It is best to shop around for a better quality door with a wood lattice core. These tend to stay flat over time. Ideally, the worktable should be sturdy enough that a person can sit on it without damaging it, but with a portable worktable this may not be possible. If a permanent workshop is set up, an L or U shaped set of work tables along two or three adjoining walls makes an excellent family craft center where two or more people can work together, or on separate projects. These tables can be made out of hollow core doors or doubled layers of particle board or MDF, supported by wall strips and 2″x2″ softwood legs. The workbench or table must be stable and provide a flat, clear space where the building board can be set up and left undisturbed. Basic Tools To get started with nearly every model airplane kit, some basic tools will be needed. These are the tools a builder must have before starting to build. Dressmaker’s Pins Dressmaker’s pins will be needed to pin parts together and to pin them to the building board. They come in several sizes, and in packages of 50 or 100. The smaller ones will be better for pinning the parts together. Bigger ones will work better for pinning large parts down to the building board. Since they are quite cheap, the best thing to do is get a package each of large and small. Hobby Knife or Utility Knife Most of the cutting required to build the average R/C trainer can be done with a hardware store utility knife. The STANLEY 99E retractable utility knife comes with enough spare blades to finish a plane. Both the knife and the blades are readily available at variety and hardware stores. An X-Acto knife handle and a supply of #11 blades is nice to have as a second knife, but the blades are more expensive and sometimes hard to find. Swan-Morton produce a flat handle modeling knife that wont rool away and both the knife and blades are reasonably cheap, Modern kits have many pre-cut parts, so an official hobby knife is not mandatory, and the utility knife will come in handy for many household chores as well. A cutting board will also be needed and usally I use a hardboard offcut Sandpaper An assortment of sandpaper will be needed. an assortment of five sheets that has Very Fine (220) Fine (150) and Medium (100). One of these packages and a package of coarse (60) should be bought. A good sanding block can be made from a piece of scrap softwood Ruler A twelve-inch ruler is a necessity. A grade school ruler is sufficient, but a good quality steel ruler is much preferred. It is also very useful to have a steel yardstick, which does double duty as an accurate straightedge. An architects or engineers scale, the triangular kind, will come in handy for later models. Clamps It is possible to buy clamps esecialy for model use,but for the most part you can get by with a good supply of rubber bands and some clothes pegs Glue A stock of several types of glue should be kept. These are the types commonly and traditionally used for model building PVA PVA or woodworking glue works very well for building model airplanes. It has the advantage of being water based and therefore less toxic. Also, PVA Glue is slow drying and less likely to cause warps and does a good job of gluing the woods used in model airplanes. For most purposes, white PVA glue is stronger than the woods used, and is easy to clean up. The yellow glues tack up and dry more quickly, but they are more expensive and more difficult to clean up. Epoxy Glue Thirty-Minute Epoxy Glue is traditionally used to glue firewalls to fuselages, install landing gear mounts and join together wing halves. It is fuel proof and very strong. Cyanoacrylate Glue Cyanoacrylate glues are sometimes called CA or Super Glue. CA comes in three varieties; regular, sometimes called thin, medium, and thick. CA is very fast setting, and strong. It is also relatively expensive. To use CA, the joint must be fabricated very carefully, and the parts are clamped or held tightly together. A drop of CA is placed on the joint, which is almost instantly welded together. This is convenient, however, if is care is not take, the glue will penetrate through the pores of the wood and stick clamps or fingers to the model airplane. CA gives off a fine, smoky mist that can really sting eyes and noses. These fumes can cause severe allergic reactions. Some people build up a heightened chemical sensitivity to CA over time. It is important to have good air circulation in the building area if any possibly toxic glue is used, but this is especially important with CA. Covering Iron Most beginning modelers will cover airplanes with plastic iron on, heat shrink film. This is the cheapest and fastest way to get a nice, fuel proof finish on models. If a lot of planes are going to be built, the builder will want to get a specially made hobby iron and also a hobby heat gun, however, a plain laundry iron can be used in a pinch, and is fine for the first plane. Inexpensive irons can be bought at a thrift store by those on a tight budget. I personaly use a small traveling iron obtained fro Argos Secondary Building Tools There are some other tools that may be needed to finish an airplane. They may not be needed right away, but they will come in handy before construction is complete. Combination Square A six-inch combination square is very useful to line up the pieces as everything is glued together. A combination square has a steel ruler that slides back and forth. It will help in making accurate 45-degree and 90-degree corners, and to mark out repeated measurements. If a six-inch combination square cannot be found, a 12-inch can be used but this will be awkward to use on model airplanes. Protractor The plain, school variety of protractor in the familiar semi-circular shape is all that is required for laying out and measuring angles. Compass or Dividers The school type compass is adequate for laying out circles and arcs. However, a set of good quality wing dividers also does a nice job of transferring measurements from drawings to wood when building more advanced models. Drafting Triangles. Although these are not strictly necessary, they are very helpful to line up parts and for making sketches of assemblies. Standard 45-degree and 30-60 degree triangles are very useful in all types of layouts. Razor Saw The razor saw is another tool that is not strictly necessary, A razor saw makes much faster straight or angle cuts in balsa and hardwood stock.you can get a razor saw blade that fits the STANLEY knife mentioned above Coping Saw A coping saw is also not strictly necessary, but for sawing out irregular shapes in thick balsa or in aircraft plywood, it is much faster than using a knife. . Screw driver Both straight and Phillips tips will be needed. Small Allen keys may also be needed, Over time, builders will probably acquire a set of miniature or jewelers screwdrivers and other miniature tools for fastening nuts, bolts and screws. Pliers A set of heavy-duty pliers does a variety of jobs in the model airplane shop, from bending landing gear to forming push-rod ends. The best quality sets will have a diagonal cutter that is strong enough to cut music wire up to 3/32″. Long Nose Pliers Long nose pliers are very useful for reaching into tight model airplane spaces. Vice Everyone needs one good vice. For models, a small machinists or blacksmith’s vice with three inch jaws and a small anvil is great for forming and shaping light metal parts. I have found a good source of model tools to be Squires Tools ,100 London Road, Bognor Regis, West Sussex, PO21 1DDwho supply tools for both models and crafts who can supply everything listed here plus lots more Drill A drill is very nearly a necessity, but will probably only be needed for a few holes on the first airplane. It is placed in this category because the builder suffice by borrowing one. Eventually, however, the builder will want to get a variable speed reversing drill. A corded type will work, as will the higher voltage cordless drills, but a small low voltage cordless one is very convenient and is designed for the modeller and craftsperson,. Hand powered drills will work too, but good ones are getting hard to find, and are awkward to use and quite expensive. A 13 drill bit assortment, in sizes from 1/16″ to 1/4″ will probably handle every hole on the first airplane. You may at a later date depending on your circumstances wish to add power tools and Taps and a Tap wrench, Dies,a palm sander and so on. One item that as become quite popular is the Dremel Moto-Tool,these hand held motors can drive a variety of attachments from drill bits to cut of wheels, grinders and sanding attachments and are ideal for the model maker A builder’s budget guides how the shop is set up but many championship models have been built on card tables with a minimum kit of hand tools.
