Education vs Sales-Based Marketing

By Simon Clarke The marketing paradigm that can literally make or break your coaching business Whats the single most important process determining whether or not your coaching business is successful? The correct answer to this question can completely change your coaching business forever. It can change your perception of your business. It can change your focus in your business. It can change how you go about operating your business. And most importantly, it can determine the success or otherwise of your business. We asked dozens of coaches this question and got a broad array of responses. But only 4% of them were even close to the mark! Most coaches answered: quality service; number of clients; pricing; branding; advertising copy. And whilst all these issues are critical, the single most important process is your marketing methodology. Whilst you must have all the other elements as well, its your marketing methodology that ultimately determines the success or otherwise of your business. Let us explain Nearly all coaches use a marketing methodology thats a sales-based marketing methodology. This is understandable as most traditional marketing methods teach sales-based marketing methods. Were all impacted by sales-based marketing at every turn on TV, newspapers, magazines, billboards, radio everywhere. And when coaches research marketing methods, they are most likely to learn about traditional sales-based marketing methodologies print ads (in newspapers, yellow pages, journals, magazines etc), direct telephone calls, radio, flyers, direct mail letters, etc. But there are several extremely powerful forces at play against coaches employing a sales-based marketing methodology Most coaches invariably feel uncomfortable delivering a sales pitch. Coaches generally have better technical skills than marketing skills. Theyre therefore uncomfortable talking about themselves and endorsing the quality of their product. This means they dont close, and comes across to prospects as a general lack of confidence in themselves, and their product and service. Sales marketing is extremely expensive narrowing your net margin on your service. The more you spend to get a client the less net profit youll retain at the end. Generally people are very sceptical and defensive against sales approaches. This exponentially increases the barrier of making a sale. When you employ a sales-based marketing method, most prospects have already closed themselves off to learning about your services due to their natural tendency to put up a defence against sales-based marketing. There is no trust and rapport built through a sales-based marketing approach. For a prospect to buy from you, there needs to be an element of trust. Your prospect needs to trust that you can deliver on your promises and that theyll gain a positive return on their investment. This level of trust is extremely difficult to build through a sales-based marketing approach. You build no reciprocal obligation on the prospect to investigate your offer or purchase from you. Its a natural human tendency to reciprocate in kind whats been given to you. You can not build reciprocal obligation through sales-based marketing. You attract price sensitive shoppers and tyre kickers that take up a lot of your time and result in extremely low conversion. Its difficult to maintain contact with prospects for long enough to build rapport and trust it generally takes 4 to 6 contacts before a prospect will buy from you. So, we can hear you shouting If sales-based marketing is not going to be effective, whats my alternative to get clients? And the answer is Education-based Marketing. Education-based marketing is simply the process by which you attract and convert highly-qualified clients by giving them what they want valuable information and advice that solves their problems - and removing what they dont want, a sales pitch. Education-based marketing is generally undertaken by delivering Credibility Marketing techniques such as public speaking, information based teleclasses, publications, networking, hotlines, free educational give aways (such as reports, assessments, tools, ecourses), etc. As opposed to sales-based marketing, education-based marketing means - You give your prospect what they really want highly valuable information. And you take away what they dont want a sales pitch. - You maintain your dignity and feel good about yourself as you never make an effort to sell. - Your brand recognition and respect will skyrocket! Education-based marketing is the ultimate brand builder. By positioning yourself as the expert or specialist by solving, through your education products, the most pressing issues your niche confronts. You become the only logical choice in your market. - You can establish yourself as a credible authority as prospects depend on you as a reliable source of valuable advice. - You significantly reduce your marketing costs and can in fact get paid to market yourself. This vastly compounds the net worth of every client you attract you can actually earn double the net profit with only half the clients! - You dont have to seek out new prospects prospects come to you (to have their problems solved). - You can maintain (mutually beneficial) contact with your prospects through the sales process because they dont feel pressured by a sales pitch and value your information and advice. - You reach prospects early during the first stages of their decision making process. - You attract moderately interested prospects that may otherwise be afraid to call you but are not afraid to request your information. - Due to the high level of trust and rapport built early on youll be perceived as an adviser, not a salesperson, making added-value sales dramatically easier. - You dramatically increase your referrals from prospects as they feel loyal to you due to a relationship built on trust and reciprocal obligation and your efforts to help them even if they dont hire you! And your referrals will come much earlier in your relationship. - You gain compounded advantage as your information is passed freely between prospects within your niche. - You gain a competitive advantage because not many competitors are using education-based marketing. - You achieve a highly leveraged advantage as you can put forward your marketing even when you are not present. - You save valuable time as you often are delivering your message directly to your most highly qualified target audience. As you can see, education-based marketing is the exact opposite to sales-based marketing, and can make an extraordinary difference to your business, and your enjoyment of doing business. So, ask yourself, How much education-based marketing am I currently doing? and How can I develop a marketing plan significantly comprised of education-based marketing methodologies? Pre-paid SIM Card for Malaysia

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney]John Dulaney The history of Malaysia is a kind of black hole in Asian history, with its past as something shrouded in mystery. It is true that there are no archaeological evidences in that country, but it is believed that such pre-historic evidences are lying along the coasts and in the jungles and hills. It is Malaysia’s abundance vegetation that hides the truth. The evidence of the presence of Homo sapiens comes from recovery of a skull from the Niah Caves in Sarawk, which was dated 35,000 years before Christ. Stone Age tools and implements from about 10,000 BC have been found in Malaysia and it is believed that it was left there by the ancient inhabitants of the predecessors of the Negrito aborigines. About 2,500 years before Christ, a group from China migrated to Malaysia, who were more technologically advanced, and pushed the Negritos into the hills and jungles. This group was called the Proto-Malays, who were mainly seafarers and farmers. As time passed, in the wave of the cultural evolution, another group was created, the Deutero-Malays, who were made up of the combination of Indians, Chinese, Siamese, Arabs, and Proto-Malays. It is this group that combined with the people of Indonesia, to form the present Malays. The ancient writing from India, mentions about a place called Savarnadvipa, a land of Gold. The mythology says that this over wealthy Kingdom, which lay far away in an unknown land, was sought out by the Indians and that is how the first Indians were lured to this land of the Malays in 100 BC. From that point onwards Malaysia had a stream of Indians coming to the land in search of gold, aromatic wood, and spices. The Indians brought in their culture and Hindu temples started to appear, with Hinduism and Buddhism sweeping through the country. Today, the Malay wedding resembles that one of the Indians, confirming the great influence of the Indian culture within the Malays. Hindu Kingdoms were set up and until the 15th century, these Hindu Kingdoms were largely over-shadowed by the neighbouring Kingdoms of Cambodia and Indonesia. The strongest Hindu Kingdom of Srivijaya is said to have the best trading port in the region. Amongst the islands of Malaysia, Srivijaya proved to be the first great maritime Kingdom and this led to the other ports in the group emulate its success. As the other ports, capable of importing and exporting merchandise, started to emerge, at sometime round about the 13th century, the influence of Srivijaya started to decline. Malacca was found in the year 1400 and grew to a wealthy Kingdom and within 50 years it became the most influential port in Southeast Asia. Trade boomed and ships of all sizes were seen in the Malacca harbour. With this trade Islam came into the land and the rulers of Malacca called themselves ‘Sultans’. The highly organised municipal government was headed by these Sultans, whose main purpose was to facilitate trade. The success and power made Malacca come into the control of the entire west coast of the Malay Peninsula, the Kingdom of Pahang, and much of Sumatra. This height of power did not last long. The Portuguese arrived and set up colonies which lasted well into the 20th century. All the trade routes, such as, the eastern spice trade, were routed through Egypt, and the Arab ports did not allow any non-Muslim vessel to be parked at the port. The European powers were painfully aware of this and they were trying to find an opportunity to establish their own trade route to India and the Far East. The Portuguese, in 1511, sent their fleet under the command of Alfonso de Albuquerque, which sailed into Malacca’s harbour, and opened fire with cannons and captured the city. That is how Malacca’s golden age came to an end. A massive fort was constructed at Malacca, which the Dutch captured in 1641. This put the Dutch in the spice trade picture until 1785. At that time the British East India Company was able to convince the Sultan to allow them to build a fort on the island of Penang. The British were interested to set up a port at Penang for a safe trade route to China. When Malaya gained independence in 1957, with Tunku Abdul Rahman as the first Prime Minister of Malaya, new situations cropped up and difficult decisions lay ahead of the country. It was required to be determined as to which territories are to be included in the newly formed state. Prime Minister Tunku convinced Singapore, Sabah, and Sarawak to join Malaya in a federal union and Malaya was then onwards come to be known as Malaysia. Singapore opted out of this federation peacefully in 1965. The other immediate requirement was to create a national identity. With multi-cultural population existing in Malaysia, it was difficult to bring them all under one flag. Since the Malays are the majority in the country, the constitution gave them permanent places in the government, made Islam the national religion and made Malay the national language. The country has made tremendous progress in the last two decades, undergoing admirable growth and prosperity and made significant progress in race relations. As a country, Malaysia offers a variety of beaches. From the powdery stretches of white sand beaches which characterises the eastern coastline, to the black sand beach of Pantai Pasir Hitam and the wonderful pebble strewn beach of Pantai Batu Keriki. In addition to these beaches, one finds hundreds of tropical islands along the the peninsula and the coast of Eastern Malaysia. The Malaysian beaches are different from the others in many ways. The colour combination of golden sands and emerald waters diffuses through the Malaysian beaches with such ecstasy that is not found in the beaches of the cool white sand and blue seas in many western beaches. While you are in Malaysia, a visit to the rain forest has to be on top of your agenda. It is unique in the world and the oldest on the planet. You would take a trip to one of the national parks, where you would take guided jungle treks both day and night. It could be an experience which will provide you with profound experience of the jungles in Malaysia. You will find the largest flower in the world, the insects and mammals who have adapted to the conditions, and trees that have raised tall, which make you look at them with amazement. You may comfortably stay in the resort-like headquarters within the park or, if you think that you are fit enough to do so, opt to take the long guided trek deep into the jungle. If you are keen on scuba diving, the waters of both, Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo, offer some of the world’s best environment for such activity. It offers one of the world’s most beautiful under-water environments, where you can dive with whale sharks, float over the beautiful under-water coral gardens or dive deeper to explore shipwrecks lying beneath. Malaysia has become increasingly aware of the protection of its marine heritage, which offers the most wonderful experience in scuba diving in this part of the world. There are many options offered in scuba diving by the hundreds of islands of Malaysia. The various cultural mixes in Malaysia have made the country renown for its unique original creative cuisine, which is prepared lovingly by the Malays. Food is prepared with sincerity and it is taken very seriously by the people of the country and right from the five-star restaurants right down to the hawker’s booths, food is prepared with every sense of quality in mind. You will get seafood dishes, matching up to your expectation from a country almost entirely surrounded by ocean. The sauce is an innovative preparation, often incorporated with local fruits and spices. Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is the focus point in todays Malaysia. The past is still seen in the city’s present, with the British colonial buildings of the Dataran Merdeka and the midnight lamps of the Petaling Street night market, still remaining as before. The modern Kuala Lumpur, with its tall office buildings and cosmopolitan environment, is taking an unhesitating leap into the future. You will need to take your cell phone with you when you visit Malaysia, which will help you to get in touch with your business associates, friends and with your family back home. Cell phones have become a part of our lives today and it has become a tool for us to be available always to the people who would want to get in touch with us. In previous days, at the time when mobile telephony was not available, you had to use the telephone in your hotel room to get in touch with the concerned people, locally and abroad.. The bills for the calls that you made were quite expensive. You had no other choice but to use that phone. When cell phones were made available, you had taken your phone, on roaming, to the countries that you visited. You had used your cell phone to call locally and internationally. You had to pay roaming charges on all those calls, including the ones that you received. Again, you did not have any choice other than taking your cell phone on roaming. www.planetomni.com has a solution to offer. A pre-paid SIM card for Malaysia saves up to 80% of your expenses while you use your cell phone. When you buy a pre-paid SIM card for Malaysia, you get a local number and you pay for your calls as the locals do. All your incoming calls are free, no matter where they generate from, and there are no roaming charges for you to pay. You do not have to enter into any contract with any service provider and you do not receive any bill at the end of the month. When you buy a pre-paid SIM card for Malaysia, you receive a small talk time credit along with it. This provides you with the opportunity to use your cell phone immediately when you reach your destination in Malaysia. To replenish your talk time credit, you simply buy recharge coupons, available in practically any shop in the Malaysian cities. These coupons are offered in various denominations for you to choose the right value that you need for your talk time credit. Since you pre-pay for your air time usage, you are in complete control of your expenses, there-by remaining within the budget set by you for that purpose. For more information and prices of a pre-paid SIM card for Malaysia, visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_sim.shtml A SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card is a printed circuit board, a little smaller than a postage stamp. The module goes into a slot at the back of your cell phone as you take off the back cover. The SIM card is the module which renders your cell phone intelligent, and enables you to make and receive calls and send SMS messages to your friends, associates and family back home. It has a microprocessor circuitry with memories and holds your unique information, such as, identifying you as a cell phone service subscriber. It holds your subscription information, your SIM card number, the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) of your mobile phone and other security details. As you switch on your cell phone, the information is transmitted to the local network of the city that you are visiting abroad. This is then matched with the database information of the Foreign Service provider and matched. If the information matches, your cell phone is logged in the network and you are now ready to use your cell phone to make and receive calls. The SIM card also holds your address book, where you can store the names and telephone numbers of the people you often get in touch with. All your incoming and outgoing call numbers are logged in the memory of the SIM card, which are displayed to you along with the respective time and date of the calls. You will need a GSM cell phone when you visit Malaysia. If you have a GSM handset, it is unlikely that it will work in that country, unless you have a multiple frequency bandwidth cell phone. Networks in Malaysia work on 900MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands, where-as, the ones in North America, Canada and a few other countries in the Americas, including Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands, operate on 850MHz and 1900MHz GSM frequency bands. These do not match with any of those used in Malaysia. This is the reason why your GSM phone would not work in that country, unless your cell phone responds to multiple GSM bandwidths. Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) is an open structure digital mobile telephony technology and is called the second generation (2G) system. It replaces the old analog first generation (1G) technology. GSM was developed in Europe and is in use in over 214 countries in the world. Globally, out of the total number of mobile users, GSM has 80% subscribers. GSM presently works on four frequency bands, and these are 850 MHz, 900 MHz, and 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz, which are distributed to the different regions in the world. Some of these are commonly used by certain countries. However, the networks in North America, Canada and a few other countries, including Puerto Rico and US Virgin Islands, operate on the exclusive frequency bands, very rarely used in any other part of the world. In order to facilitate the use of cell phones universally, there are three types of such phones available in the world market. The Quad-band phone complies with all GSM bandwidths and would work in any of the GSM country in the world. The Tri-band is compatible with 800MHz, 900MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands, and operates in most part of the GSM region, while the Dual-band responds to 800MHz and 1900MHz GSM frequency bands. If you are a frequent traveller, you may consider buying a compatible cell phone which would work in the countries that you visit. If you are not so frequent a traveller, it is economical for you to rent a phone which will match the frequency bands with the networks of the country that you are visiting. For more information on buying or renting a phone, you may visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_gsm.shtml for more details. Whether you take your phone, buy or rent one, you must ensure that the cell phone which you are taking with you to Malaysia is SIM unlocked, for, you will not be able to use your pre-paid SIM card for Malaysia or any other SIM card for that matter, if your cell phone is SIM locked. To give an instance as to why cell phones are SIM locked, consider that you have signed a contract with a certain service provider. One of the clauses in the contract mentions that you will be required to remain with the services of that provider for a definite period of time, which is generally one year. After you sign the contract you receive a cell phone and a SIM card from the service provider. The cell phone has been given to you free from any cost. This cell phone is SIM locked and would work with only the SIM card that you have received from the service provider. This is done to ensure that you use that particular SIM card only and do not shift your services to another provider before the contract duration is over. At the end of the contract period, the service provider helps you to SIM unlock your phone, when you are at liberty to use any SIM card that you want. Therefore, there are two things which you should look into before you take your cell phone with you to Malaysia. One that your cell phone is compatible with the frequency bands of Malaysia and two, that your cell phone is not SIM locked. A pre-paid SIM card for Malaysia is affordable and it saves substantially on your phone bills. All your incoming calls are free and you do not pay any roaming charges. Since you pre-pay for your calls, you are in complete control of your expenses. You do not sign any contract and you do not receive any bill at the end of the month. Cell phone use overseas. In 99% of the world the local cellular service standard is called GSM. We use this in the states as well. When combined with a SIM CARD (which usually goes under the battery of the phone) the phone is able to communicate and the SIM CARD also holds the telephone number and memory for pre-paid credit. Rates can be extremely low using this system. For example in 99% of all SIM CARDS incoming calls are free and calls to the states can cost a trifle. Such as, from the UK to the USA 7 cents/minute, from Israel 22 cents, from Australia 27 cents. Yes, USA Dollar cents! There are today even prepaid service providers in the USA offering rates of 10 cents per minute to call anywhere in the US to any type of phone. No contracts, no credit card checks, no bills. Pre-paid always means no minimums no contracts, no obligations. You only pay for the calls made. You’ll need an unlocked GSM tri-band or quadband UNLOCKED phone. You can buy factory unlocked phones and sim cards for more than 170 of the 193 countries on earth from http://www.planetomni.com Tel. # 800-514-2984 Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney http://EzineArticles.com/?Pre-paid-SIM-Card-for-Malaysia&id=391958 ultram online order cheap prescription ultram without buy cheap online tramadol buy tramadol cheap 120

Dating Advice - Open Up to New Ways to Meet Prospects

By Ronnie Ann Ryan Its not always easy to maintain a positive attitude and try new ways to meet people. Yet, a good outlook and a willing spirit are crucial to your dating success. What can you do to encourage yourself to break from routine and experiment with new ways to meet people? The Foundation for Out-of-the-Box Thinking There is a key phrase that can be relied on as the foundation for out-of-the-box thinking and a positive outlook about looking for love: Try asking yourself What the heck? In other words, what’s the downside of trying something new? Free Yourself from Unfounded Fears When asking clients what contributed to their dating success, so many respond, I finally decided, What the heck? and posted my profile, went to the dance, or said yes to the blind date. Saying No to these methods hadnt produced the results they wanted. Somehow these people managed to push past the fear and realize there was very little to lose except their single status. They asked themselves, Whats the worst thing that could happen? What have I got to lose? This is a great way to free yourself up from unfounded fears. The likelihood of meeting an ax murder is statistically quite slim. Adopting a What the Heck? Attitude Moves You into Action Naturally trying anything new can cause trepidation. But, without a willingness to explore various dating avenues, my happy clients who found love wouldnt be with their partners today. Adopting a What the heck? attitude will help you put aside fears in favor of action, to move toward the goal of meeting Mr./Ms. Right. How Beth Met Sam Heres a great example. Beth had been complaining that she was having trouble meeting men, but admitted that she was doing very little to help her cause. To shake things up, she thought What the heck? and placed a personal ad in a local weekly paper, screened lots of responses and decided to meet a few of the men. When Beth met Sam, she discovered they had a lot in common in fact more than she realized because as it turns out, he lived right around the corner from her. Without placing that ad, Beth probably never would have met her neighbor Sam, who was an active, kind-hearted man with a great sense of humor. Say “What the Heck?” to Limiting Thoughts that Hold You Back If you are holding yourself back from meeting prospects because the methods seem daunting, or contrived, take the pressure off and convince yourself that you have nothing to lose but those lonely weekends. Say What the heck? to limiting thoughts that keep you from trying new things and get on with finding the love you want! Understanding Home Equity Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Steve_John]Steve John For those homeowners who are in need of consolidating their bills, taking out cash for home improvements, or for paying the pricey tuitions that go along with sending their kids to college, a home equity loan is a viable option to the hassle of refinancing your home. This is especially true for those with an already great rate and good terms on their first mortgage. Quite simply put, a home equity loan is a lump sum of money that is borrowed by a homeowner and secured by the equity of their residence, just as a first mortgage does. The difference is that the home equity loan (also known as a second mortgage) is in second position on the deed of your propertys title, as your first mortgage retains the first spot. Home equity loans usually contain tax deductible, fixed or adjustable interest rates and a set monthly payment scheduled for 10, 15, or 20 years, depending on your terms. Cash is allocated to the borrower at the time of the loans closing (or funding) for the necessary disbursement. A set amortization schedule reflects the new loans repayment plan to its lending institution. Even though the interest paid on a home equity loan is higher than that of a first mortgage, they are still much less expensive than the average credit card and/or unsecured loan. By consolidating all of these higher interest rate payments into one central loan, borrowers can enjoy a lower monthly payment each month, plus a happier bank account when tax time rolls around. Reasoning behind the higher interest rates of home equity loans compared to first mortgages ranges to dabble in a bit of everything. First, since this loan is listed as second on a homes lien, the lender will have a more difficult time recouping any losses should the house lose value and fall into foreclosure. Secondly, the length of time usually associated with such a loan is much less than a first, so there is substantially less time to collect the payable interest. Another type of home equity loan is called the Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC), which allows a borrower to draw cash out whenever they wish, for whatever they wish (up to the preset limit). When the money is paid back, the amount of the HELOC is again where it started, ready and waiting to be used again. Its much like a credit card (with significantly lower rates) and the flexibility to only pay interest for the amount taken out of the credit line for a pre-designated period of time. Annual fees may be assessed for this ultimate convenience, as well as higher interest rates than the more traditional home equity loan or second mortgage. Review Of The Ad Genius Ad Blasting And Emailing Software For Marketing

By Daniel McGonagle AdGenius is a piece of emailing software that promises you can actually email millions of 100% opt-in prospects a day. In addition to that, these opt in prospects are guaranteed to be 100% spam free, and all it takes to reach them by email is just 1 click of a button. This review of the Ad Genius ad blasting and emailing software For marketing will help you understand the adblasting industry. Not only that, it will also serve to help you understand their claims as we compare them to the facts. The AdGenius Company claims that their lists are the most responsive in the industry. The price of Adgenius is just a one time fee of $29.99, and heres is why I have a problem with this system: Usually adblasters do not work. Quality advertising to just a couple hundred real, targeted visitors can cost hundreds. Anything that promises that you can email millions of responsive opt-in members is a pie-in-the-sky deal. Usually, people who develop and promote this adblaster software are people who want to prey on new internet marketers who dont know any better. Adblasters prey on people’s desire to make easy money, and within the Internet Marketing industry, there is no such thing. Most people that use ad blasters do not even know how to track it’s effectiveness, therefore it’s just another one of those useless products being sold on the Internet today. Adblasters do not deliver targeted leads or traffic and people need to realize this as soon as possible if they want to succeed in Internet Marketing I have invested money into a system similar to this one that promised to bring millions of visitors to my website. Yet, no matter how many times I submitted my site using this software, I did not receive a single visitor to my website. And that is why I am on a mission to review sites like this and help people make good choices. Seduction Of Women - 3 Top Tips

By John Coutts The seduction of women is a science, and is never about getting lucky. You have the task of triggering the right feelings and emotions of interest in the woman you are trying to seduce. You have to put her in the exact right frame of attraction where she will see you as special. Do that and you will know what the seduction of women is all about. Here are my top 3 tips for seducing a woman of your choice… 1. You need to be the kind of guy who has self-confidence oozing out of your every pore — not big-headed bravado. She needs to see the kind of self-confidence you only see in a man who knows what he’s doing now, and knows exactly what he will do next. So show her that air of confidence and you’re half-way there. 2. Be honest when you approach a woman. Don’t mention the time you were an airline pilot, unless that’s actually true and you can prove it. Even then, don’t mention it as that comes over as boasting. Be modest in a confident and totally honest fashion. Give her a reason to trust you. 3. Always bring the conversation back to her. Gently discover what she likes, and what she dreams about, then turn the conversation in that direction. Don’t talk about yourself. She may ask about you, but only tell the basics, then talk again about her. This will cultivate a slight air of mystery, which will only serve to enhance your standing. To most men the seduction of women is a mystery. But it needn’t be so. Whether you are seducing younger women or older women, the principles are pretty much the same. Pay attention to the basic details and the seduction of women will soon become second nature to you! John Coutts is an experienced author who writes on a variety of popular subjects. Migraine Headaches: Are Pain-Killing Drugs Worth the Risk?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Dr._Larry_A._Johnson,_D.C.] Dr. Larry A. Johnson, D.C. All drugs are dangerous. Before a person suffering with a migraine headache takes an over-the-counter medication they should be asking the question “Is the possible benefit worth the risk of taking that drug?” William Osler, M.D. once said “The person who takes medicine must recover twice; once from the disease and once from the medicine.” Sadly, this can be all too true. Dr. William Bennett, head of nephrology at Oregon Health Sciences University, estimates that over-the-counter painkillers are responsible for as many as 20% of the 125,000 cases of end-stage kidney disease in the United States. Some medications have side effects that can be more serious than the painful migraine headaches themselves. Aspirin can cause internal hemorrhaging, or bleeding in the stomach. According to the Dec. 1996 issue of Health News and Views taking Tylenol once every 4 days increases the chance of liver damage by more than 400%. The main pain-relief ingredient in Tylenol is acetaminophen which has been shown to cause liver disease. “Tylenol,” as reported in the January 1998 issue of Forbes magazine, “can be very dangerous in doses not much greater” than the recommended dose. In 1989, Lacy Keele, a 5-year-old, took four extra strength tablets in one day, or twice what a child should receive. The overdose destroyed Lacy’s liver. Within a week she was dead. A jury found Tylenol to be a cause in her death. There have been hundreds of fatalities and serious liver injuries attributed to acetaminophen, Tylenol’s active ingredient, since Lacy’s death. The biggest reason for these deaths is because people “tend to use Tylenol in a casual fashion.” Think about it: You have a migraine headache so you take a few pills. The migraine doesn’t go away so you take a few more. The difference between a proper dose and an overdose is so small that dangerous amounts can easily be ingested accidentally. “No other over-the-counter drug has a more narrow range between therapy and toxicity than acetaminophen,” says Dr. William Lee, a professor of internal medicine at the University of Texas’ Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. L.F. Kebler, M.D. once said “Why should a patient swallow a poison because he is ill, or take that which would make a well man sick?” And O.W. Holmes, M.D., Professor of Medicine at Harvard University said “If all the medicine in the world were thrown into the sea, it would be bad for the fish and good for humanity.” In the September 29, 1996 issue of the Los Angeles Times Magazine it makes it known that Ibuprofen kills thousands every year. Ibuprofen, the active ingredient in many pain relievers, including Advil, Motrin IB, and Nuprin, is known as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). People that take NSAIDs like ibuprofen regularly to ease their chronic migraine headaches are prone to gastric (stomach) disorders. Dr. James F. Fries, a leading arthritis expert and professor of medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, says “there’s an epidemic of adverse drug reactions to NSAIDs. The FDA believes anywhere from 10,000 to 20,000 deaths each year are the result of severe bleeding caused by NSAIDs. It’s a big problem.” When taking medication to relieve migraine headaches it’s always a good idea to read the label carefully. If you decide to take pain-killing medications for your migraine headaches be sure to follow the directions. Using common sense can reduce your chances of experiencing adverse reactions. Dr. Larry A. How to Tell If Online Consultations Are Right For You

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Whozylee_Aris] Whozylee Aris As computers, Internet and technology have become increasingly more available and accepted, so have the applications for using them. Online consultations are something that is becoming more widely used by both medical professionals and those seeking medical advice. But how do you know if online medical consultations are right for you? There are some things to consider before you decide to try out online consultations. The first thing you should consider is the complexity and severity of the medical condition you are hoping to ask about. If you have a complicated medical history and are under a physician’s care for one or more serious illnesses or diseases, you should probably stay in touch with your doctor about new problems. If this is the case, online consultations are probably not a good idea for you. Your personal physician is in tune with your medical issues and has your history at his fingertips. Online medical consultations rely on the information you provide and those medical professionals - while probably highly competent - aren’t likely to be able to deal with complex medical histories. There are lots of cases in which the illnesses are only bothersome and finding a source of online medical consultations is a great way to deal with the problem without the expense and time needed to visit your personal physician. In some cases, you may be alerted to ways of dealing with minor medical issues with only over-the-counter medications or even items that are probably already in your medicine cabinet. You can get general online consultations that will help you decide whether a trip to the doctor is warranted or if you can probably get past the problem on your own. With the wide array of medications that were once prescription-only but are now available over-the-counter, the odds are good that online medical consultations will include suggestions for medicines you can purchase that might help the symptoms. Remember to alert the person performing the online consultation to any medications you are currently taking so that they can consider drug interactions. If you are on an extensive medical regimen, you should probably avoid online consultations and work directly with your personal doctor. So does that mean that online consultations aren’t ever worth looking into if you have a serious condition? Not at all. There are dozens of websites that have incredible resources for those facing specific health issues. If you’re dealing with diabetes, heart disease, herpes, various forms of cancer or other specific illnesses, you’ll find online sources of information that include online medical consultations. These online consultants typically are knowledgeable about the specifics of these diseases and can offer quality advice. Who Needs Market Research?

By Chris Hawkes Market research can be expensive, and it takes a fair amount of time and thought to do well, so why do it? The short answer is that management wants to make informed decisions and to ensure that theyre keeping their finger on the pulse of the guy who employs them the customer. When pondering market research, generally companies are considering a decision that involves a significant investment, or that has a large potential for risk if they were to make the wrong decision. In some cases theyre trying make a million dollars on a new product, and in other cases theyre simply trying to hedge their bets to make sure that they protect what they already have. Knowledge is Power! Market research is all about increasing your understanding of the market, of the customers motivations or their frustrations that may not have even reached the surface yet, but are a on a slow boil that could upset the applecart. Knowing something more than your competitor can be the difference between success and failure, and in many cases the customers are the ones that know best. Maybe your customers are especially pleased with your service offerings, and you could actually be selling your services for a significant price-premium over the competitor offerings?Customers might not be buying your product because they like it, but instead they might tolerate it simply because it provides some benefit to a need that hasnt been addressed well by anyones product yetMaybe youre not advertising in the right places, or the language that is used in your advertising leaves your customer more confused than motivated to purchase. Maybe some slight changes could yield great benefits for your company?Maybe that product idea that your company has been kicking around for months is actually something that holds great potential, but your group is deadlocked over whether it should be pursued or not. Some customer feedback could help to break that tie. Market research is simply a more systematic approach to gathering customer feedback and ensuring that the feedback is as independent and unbiased as possible. In addition to the actual research findings, another common benefit is that research tends to focus the team on the needs and expectations of the customers. This is particularly beneficial because many people tend to believe that they are representative of a typical customer. The reality is that anyone employed in an industry tends to be much more knowledgeable, interested and sensitized to the topic than is a typical customer. Conducting market research seems to remind employees that everything that they do should be in service of that typical customer. When it comes to understanding what a typical customer values and why they value it, market research can be a great tool and is probably worth consideration as you ponder that next big decision.
